Soda blasting is a technique which uses a specifically formulated medium of sodium bicarbonate to remove surface mold, soot and other contaminants from delicate surfaces under pressure. It is usually applied as a dry crystalline powder literally “exploding” mold off of surfaces with no heat buildup or sparks. It can be used on many different kinds of surfaces, is non-toxic, food grade, 100 percent water soluble, a natural deodorant, environmentally safe and doesn’t damage surfaces. It effectively cleans fungal contamination from irregular and problem surfaces cost-effectively. Air pressure can also be regulated for aggressive or sensitive cleaning.
Different types of soda material can also be used depending on the surface texture and results desired. Another unique aspect of the soda blasting is that the soda material actually deodorizes the surfaces it cleans and is better for the environment. Soda blasting is safer than traditional sandblasting because it is much less abrasive to the structure, produces far less dust particles on wet side and is easily cleaned up.

Baking soda changes the pH of (or “neutralizes”) the odor-causing soot and fire residue, thereby eliminating all smoke odour and soot on damaged structures. It is environmentally safe, has no toxic fumes or chemical solvents, is non-sparking, non-flammable and water soluble.

The key feature of soda is that it is very soft and won't damage the substrate, e.g., PVC, ductwork, modern wiring, wood, and so on. When applied using the correct equipment and methodology, it results in swift, efficient mold removal with little waste, clean-up and damage.
