Kelso Scholarship Contest

2018 Kelso Scholarship Winner Eyad Amer

The 2019 Kelso Scholarship Contest is now open!

The future of our infrastructure is changing quickly, bringing jobs, revenue streams and investment opportunities as well as new laws, regulations and industry standards. How do we prepare for many of the automated technologies coming our way? How will our old buildings, cars and roads fit with the new? What can we build now that will contribute to this growth for the next 30+ years? What grand challenges should we embrace?

Select ONE infrastructure idea from below, explain the challenges associated with the idea and describe what measures you would recommend our nation’s leaders take to ensure we continue to sustain and grow our infrastructure for generations to come. Submitted essays will be judged on research of the issues, explanation of the usefulness of implementing, and originality in recommended measures. Submissions must be between 800 and 1200 words.

  • Preparing For and Maintaining Driverless Cars and Driverless Highways
  • Preserving Architecture Through Building Restoration
  • The Future of Collector Cars in a World of Autonomous Vehicles
  • The Impact of Drone Delivery Networks on Commerce

The Kelso Industrial Group Scholarship Committee will select the top three essay entries, then post those top three entries on the website before announcing the winner of the $1,000 scholarship. All decisions are within the discretion of Kelso Industrial Group judges and all decisions are final.
